Gifts that Give Back: Part 2

If you haven’t read Part 1 of this series, I encourage you to go back and read it. There are some great companies covered in that part as well. Krochet Kids – Backpack Something I have been wanting for a while was a backpack I could use as a purse and a diaper bag. Now that we have two kids and the Roarinator is a wild one it has been difficult to carry a big diaper bag and a purse. I searched several charities/fair trade and finally decided on the Ridgeview from Krochet Kids. Something that is really cool about […]

Gifts that Give Back: Part 1

If anyone is still out there…HI!…thanks for continuing to come back to my little corner of the internet. I know I keep saying I’m going to keep up with this blog on a regular basis and I promise that day is coming! I just need to get through this month. I’m swamped at work, the Hubs is working mandatory 50 hour weeks and I have jury duty! Not to mention we are trying to get our house ready to sell. Good news, though, I survived the holidays and since you are here I’m guessing you survived as well! Yay us! […]

Major Catch-Up Post

Wow! So that was a much longer break that I expected. Sorry for my absence! I totally did not mean to be gone that long but sometimes life just gets in the way. When I started this blog I told myself it would not take priority over my family. Family is and will always be my #1 priority. So while I was gone I spent time doing fun fall activities and creating Halloween costumes and, generally, just taking a break. I work a full time job and have two kids and a house to take care of once I get […]

First Fall Weekend

This weekend was our unofficial kick-off to the fall. We participated in the Walk to End Alzheimers on Saturday and went to the pumpkin farm on Sunday. We were also lucky enough to spend some time with the hub’s sister and her family. They were in town for the weekend visiting from Maryland. I’m going to go ahead and warn you now that there is a serious overload of pictures in this post and sorry there are a ton of my kids. We had great weather for the Walk to End Alzheimers and there was a great turnout for the […]

Date Day + A Chill Weekend

I know I’ve said before that most of our weekends around here are pretty boring and ordinary but we’ve actually been working on making the best of them. I’m super excited for October because we have fun fall things planned for just about every weekend. This weekend, however, started on a low note with a visit to the pediatrician. Roarinator has been on antibiotics pretty much since the end of June. She’s had four ear infections and strep throat. This appointment was supposed to be a follow-up to the last ear infection and I was totally expecting good news because […]

Faith

I have to preface this post by mentioning a blog I have been reading for a little while now called Lovely Little Things, which is written by an amazing and talented woman named Jessica. She works two jobs and is going to school for Speech Language Pathology and still finds time to maintain a blog. She has been such an inspiration to me and her posts were what really turned everything around for me. She talked about slowing down, living in the present, taking time for yourself and so much more that really hit home. Those were the exact things […]

Smale Riverfront Park

One of the things I love about my city is that we are constantly growing and improving. They recently completed work on the new Smale Riverfront Park that runs along the Ohio River. The park is great for families, runners, young adults and just about anyone else. There is something for everyone. Smale park is a great option for families on a budget. While you may have to pay for parking you can spend all day at the park for free. I would love to pack a lunch the next time we go so that we can relax at one […]

First Weekend Recap

It’s a little late but I’m getting my first weekend recap post up! Our weekends around here usually aren’t carefree and fun. Unfortunately, with the hubs and I both working full time our weekends are spent getting things done that we couldn’t get to during the week. So we are usually cleaning, running errands and doing grocery shopping. However, this weekend was actually pretty fun and relaxing even though we did get some cleaning done and of course had to do grocery shopping. It was far better than last weekend. We spent the holiday weekend with a sick little Roarinator. […]

The Roarinator

As I’m sitting here writing what I thought was going to be my next post I’m watching a hilarious interaction between the Roarinator and her daddy. Now I do have to explain one thing. The Roarinator is the first girl in the family. My husband has one older son from a previous relationship and we have Bubbadoodle together. She is also the first granddaughter after four grandsons on each side. So needless to say she has everyone wrapped around her tiny little finger. Anyway she was totally working her dad tonight as he was sitting watching football and enjoying some chips. […]

Authentic

According to dictionary.com the definition of authentic [aw-then-tik] is representing one’s true nature or beliefs. That is what I want this blog to be; a place where I can be my authentic self. Hopefully I can inspire others to be happy with their own, real lives and to stop striving so hard for something that is unattainable. I think it would be easy to start a blog to show a perfect house, prefect life, perfect everything but I believe it is much harder to be real, to be AUTHENTIC. I want this blog to be a place where people don’t […]
